Been Looking for a MK2 Cavalier (Preferably an Sri 130 or the Rare butt ugly Calibre), and been offered a few restoration projects, but a guy has an old E reg LX 1.6 with missing rear window and MOT just out in June, but with about 3 weeks tax left. As it belongs to a mate who now works in China he is offering it for £0 - Yes £0 to get rid.
Only trouble is : Its in Essex and I'm not ! If I booked it in for an MOT in Liverpool, and organised temporary insurance would I be okay ? I'm in the RAC so not worried about breaking down.
How can I get it without paying for transportation or fines ?
(It would make a great 3rd party only park anywhere daily driver)

Maybe you're already insured 3rd party for driving other people's cars.
Just make sure that the car still belongs to HIM while you're driving it.

drain the oil out of it (splash some around the engine bay) phone the rac and tell them it's dropped it's oil and when they come out tell them again and tell them not to try and turn it over.... then have them take it home for you.....

you dont even need to be there, tell them you have gone on seperately
