Hardly a sleeper looking like that. If I ventured upon a Mk 1 looking like that I'd be thinking scratchchin

No,i suppose its not from a naturally aspirated 8 valve motor especially the fact it was up against a car so low tech, you obviously know a lot about engines then rolleyes apart from the fact that Fiat is a V8 laugh was that not the car with the big clockwork wind up key on the back? thumbup

Ron Harris can screw a Pinto engine together better than anyone else I know. he turned 70 last year and in semi retirement builds the odd engine for his grand children.

He is somewhat of a legend in ford circles.

For drag racing though I still prefer the plumbers van.................

I take it you're referring to my recommendation in the 'alloy head repair' thread? Have you a clue what the product is I recommended? I'd wager you've never used Devcon. You've most likely never heard of it either. Or perhaps you'd care to share your knowledge as to why you would take a pop at my recommending it? Please, do give me the benefit of your wisdom.

Is it the same material as that cylinder head?no its not,and what ever you use Devcon, bubblegum, whatever the head would still have to be machined, what have you got against welding the head up and doing the job properly tongue out lighten up fella i am only yanking your chain thumbup

Well, just to add fat to the fire, I'd be shy of welding the head as that seems a recipe for distortion and all sorts of other heat induced problems... seen it times with people trying to reclaim old 2 valve Kawa heads that were notorious for cracking between valve seats. Sometimes such repairs worked, sometimes they didn't despite all sorts of clever (and costly) techniques and treatments. Not much option but to weld there, but on a flat clamped face, Devcon seems an entirely fair solution with none of those risks. If it's good enough for making up porting breakthroughs (which is where I've come across it), can't see any problem with the suggestion smile
