Washer pump has stopped working properly. Had it checked out by local indy and he says there is a valve (within the pump assembly} which as packed up.

Could this be a warranty job?

Car is 2006 Mondeo ST.

Dunno but my 07 plate has this problem!! I noticed mine dribbles out, if i let go of the button and then press it again it's fine.............until the next time, is this what yours does? Mine better be under warranty-the bloody thing has only done 1300 miles and is going back for an engine fault(see other thread).

Sometimes it's the pump (my mate's ST TDCI had the pump go, and it was a warranty job). Apparently sometimes it's just the valve, and you can take it off, rinse it out, refit it and it all works.

Mine's packed up too. I tried to get at the valve, but it's behind a panel that has about 14 screws in it. I might just take it to the dealer, but I'm not looking forward to the bill tongue out

Mine goes in tomorrow for this & the tappety engine, they can have it until all fixed, i'll let you know what they come back with. One thing i noticed was when the water only dribbled out the wipers moved VERY slowly like there was a high current draw happening. At first i though it was a pipe(used to come off on all previous Mondeo's!!) but as it works second time around it must be the valve, no way it can need cleaning as the car has only done 1300 miles so they can replace it as far as i am concerned.

I had this on both our mondeo's. solved by sticking a pressure washer lance right down into the reservoir.

Done that on a 12 year old Mk1 but i can't see it working on a 1300 mile 07! I haven't even filled the washer bottle so it's still factory stuff in there.

fair enough - but mine was blocked from a bad batch of windscreen washer additive.

You stuck the lance right down into the reservoir and blasted it?

That's what i did!! Get someone to operate the washers whilst giving it a good blast. On my old car the fluid had gone all jelly like and was blocking the filter in the bottom. I was in a rush and didn't have time to take the under tray off etc to get to the pump, this was a quick chance solution and it worked!!! I'm not trying it on the car though smile

That would fit with what I said earlier about the valve getting clogged up. Hmmm... worth a try before a trip to the stealer.

yep, fortunately the lance I had cleared the kink in the neck and right down to the bottom, fire that puppy up and immediately use the washers.

Always the way; my van developed a squeaky suspension at the front. I booked it in three times and on each day of the appointments, the squeaking would stop as I drove there.

Tried the pressure-washer thing earlier and didn't have any luck. However, I couldn't get the lance right inside the reservoir. I'll just have to stump up the cash I bet.
