Hi all from chilly Melbourne...

Just put the finishing touches to my black beastie.. wanted to remove all the badges originally (for that stealthy kinda look) but didn't want to respray the bootlid when I found out that there are two locating holes, plus the front grill is moulded to take the (rather large) GMH emblem and the only options really around are a chevvy alternative which I don't really want or some custom job at great expense. So anyways, with a bit of hunting around I found a company in Melbourne that actually does electroplating of plastics and low & behold they do a fair bit of work for Holden. So me decides to get them to replate the front & rear emblems in Black Chrome and I reckon it comes up OK - esp for $100 aussie clams (total).

If anyone with black VXR's wants their badges redone in black I can pass on the details - 4 day turnaround plus postage.

Anyway.. here are some pix of the finished job

PS.. If any of the UK HSV faithful ever have a stopover in Melbourne I'm happy to offer a 24/7 V8 Holden pickup service for a bottle of duty free somthing No disrespect to Melb cabbies but it ain't right to hop in a LPG powered yellow Ford as soon as you arrive in HSV's hometown!

Are you ever tempted to put Vauxhall badges on it? I know a few of us have some spares smile

Did you remove the rear lip spolier or didn't it come with one? I saw a gun-metal coloured V8 Calais V today, think it was a MY08 or MY08.5 or whatever they call it...it looked rather tempting but I think the Ute might win out!

That looks really great! I really like those emblems. Wonder what my GTO would look like with the Pontiac Arrows replaced with HSV emblems.

hmmmmm... after driving the only GTS Coupe in Europe for a year or two (now Raggyman's arduous task!) maybe I could chuck a couple of Griffins on the Calais for a bit of vicky verka action in Oz??? Never seen a vauxhall badge in Oz b4 (obvious exceptions from Clayton factory where all the blighty cars are shipped from!)

motomk... I saw one at Penfolds with a bootlip spoiler also in grey.. maybe a 60th anniversary special as I don't think it has been standard fit on them before - cert wasn't on mine. Doesnt look to bad but as you gathered I'm sticking to the less is more camp.

Want some concrete boots Jace??? "I canna hook u up maaate"

Hey, but I might have to rely on those yellow Fo$d pieces of rubbish to get me to bathurst, because you couldn't organise your mate to re-arrange his wedding so that you and souz can come to bathurst with me..

Ah yeah, think you need to "arrange" something for your other mate, to make him move his wedding dude... What sort of idiot has a wedding on bathurst weekend.. (he must drive a ford)..
