Thought you guys might be interested in this video. On of the US drivers was doing wheel to wheel racing and ended up leaving the at 149mph. He hit the tire wall backwards. He walked away with a bruised hand.

I think we can all breath easy to know that the Noble stood up so well in the crash. The chassis stood up well and the car will survive as well.

I was at the track at the time Derek just walked back to the paddock, still smilling, put some ice on his hand, checked to see if he could hold the wheel on his spec miata, and then asked his crew to get it ready for the next race! I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it.

The fire service were impressed with the crash-resistance of mine when I crashed my first one. Admittedly a bit slower than that though yikes. Only about 115mph less.....

I think (please correct me if I'm wrong) that was Derek's second big crash...

Yes, his first one was also an encounter with a tire wall while on a slick track a few years ago. In that case, he had relatively minor front-end clam damage and a broken windscreen, and he was able to return to competition the next day after the windscreen was replaced and the front clam was patched up.

I too was at this event, and also had an "off" but with no contact with walls, barriers, or other cars. It was quite interesting to see how well the rear chassis of Derek's car stood up to this incident with what I perceived as minimal damage in light of the circumstances.

Also as a point of note, I managed to display some Pistonhead decals, one of the PH Lemans 2008 decal and Toxicated decals as well !
