Hi all, thinking of buying another x type! wanting the 20D and just wondered if i should steer clear of the higher mileage ones about 100k? as this is all my budget allows at the minute!
Thanks all,
Lee

Errrrr yes, but you say you can't. In the end a high miler may well be affordable to buy, but will it be affordable to run. The answer is probably not. I think Jags are good for 60k miles no probs and then up to 100k you may get a problem, after that I would expect components to require replacing.

With diesel 12p/ltr higher I would opt for a 2.5 X-Type. The mileage is so close using equivalent MPG per p/ltr.

i think you could be entering a host of issues at that mileage with a modern diesel.

anything from injectors/pumps/turbos could leave you broke. Agree with Triple7, a 2.5L manual would be a better bet imho

I changed from a 2.5 manual to a 2.2d manual. I save about £70 per month in fuel costs based on my milage of 13k a year.

The petrol was 3 years old & 28k miles when I bought it. I took it to 57k miles with no significant faults.

The diesel was 2.5 years old with 26k when I bought it. Only had it 3 months but nothing bad to say about it yet.

Are you serious, I'm considering a 2.2D, and if they only do 100k then its definately off of my list. My Audi currently has 244k on the clock, and shes still going strong.

Forget the Naysayers - 2.2D on fleet with close to 200K also. No issues if properly maintained like all a cars...
