Off to V8 Developments This Saturday
Discussion
my 4.0 is off to v8 this saturday. was meant to go up there 4 weeks ago but had to cancel due to work. car is due to get new stage 3 heads, cam, mark adams chip and full new induction system. should make the old motor like new. anyone else had such work done and if so what was the outcome.
Don't expect things to go like clockwork!
The car WILL run like a bugger until Mark has fettled it - and in my experience it may take a few attempts to get it right.
V8 will tell you that it won't run well after the cam and induction are fitted, but when you jump in it to go home and find that it drives like a tractor DON'T be alarmed
, DON'T loose faith
, and DO look forward to the rolling-road session!
The cam (assuming a solid-lifter P404) will be tappety for the first 1,000 miles, but will be much better once it has settled and been adjusted.
Rob at V8 is expert with these engines, so you're in safe hands. Mark really does know his stuff, and the ACT induction systems are fantastic - but you're going to make a big beefy omelette under the bonnet and eggs will get broken! (to use a poor metaphor
)
I'm sure you'll be delighted once everything is finished - it really should make a big difference.

Agree more than whole heartedly with the above, the guys at V8D know their onions, or's that their engines, they are a great bunch, talk it through with Ray or Sean.
The final tune up does make a difference and maybe it will take a few trips to get the set up properly done, still waiting for a return visit myself or even a return call
. What can I say overall the car is a bit quicker but I'm still under whelmed
. On the RR pay attention to every detail and be a little careful of smoke and mirrors. If you want more details email me off line. Harry

I upgraded my Griff (500) with a P404 from V8 and Tim's twin plenum/4.6 airflow plus Mark's touch, although the fitting was done by my own dealer in NL.
Car is like a rocket, so much faster than before, it's quite scary at times (that's what I like, a car that is faster than I can handle, at least for now). You really have to keep a sharp eye on the rev counter because it just won't stop accelerating, even above 6.000 rpm (yes I know, but I had to try it once?)

Glad I'm not the only one, I took mine to Brunters and I swear I saw 6300 on the clock! I get tyre chirps every time I accelerate from rest if turning and, as you said, just does not stop accelerating. I followed flasher once to Rockingham and he took off in top, I stayed with him all the way up to 140 (two up), not bad for an engine designed in the 50's

Apache I assume yours is fully sorted now, did it take many trips to get it to your liking post engine work
, or am I alone on that front

Anybody got any power /torque figures for these mods?
Matt
Not personally, my RR session was from before the new cam (old one was worn). What I understand from Mark Adams is that this setup should bring roughly 300-330 bhp and around 320-340 torque.
Can add that 40-100 mph in third gear takes 6,6 s. In comparison, used to take around 7,6 s. (with M. Adams chip, but without all the new hardware) and a Cerb does it in 7,3 s.(according to Autocar test)
