Hi guys,

I’m looking to buy a new TVR, don’t know what to go for though. I want performance and reliability; they are both as important as each other.

The two I had in mind were the Cerbera LW RR and the Tuscan S. Correct me if I’m wrong, and even though one of the dealers did not say one was more reliable than the other, he did say that all the new technology is in the Tuscan. I took that as a hint.

I live in London and the car will be my everyday car. I’m also cut between the two looks wise. I was driving a Cerbera in central London and parked next to a Ferrari (can’t remember which model, but it was nice and new), when I cam out of the shop everyone was looking at the Cerbi and taking pictures as oppose to the Ferrari. Will the same happen with the Tuscan S? damn I’m so confused.

I’m also told the Tuscan S will handle better also due to its shorter wheelbase.

BTW I know what a Cerbera looks like in Crystal Topaz Pearescent (I love it), anyone got a pic of a Tuscan in the same or any unusually nice colours.

Cheers,

Yite

A lucky postion to be in !

Performance wise they're pretty much matched, although driving experts seem to get round tracks quicker in a properly setup Cerbera (not much in it again). There was a thread on this a while back.

Reliability wise I guess the Cerbera will cost more to maintain... but the one big thing you have to ask yourself is do you want the very troubled Speed Six engine (in the Tuscan S) or go for the more reliable powerplant of the Cerbera's AJP V8

If the engines fine in the Tuscan then it will probably cost less to run.... but if it blows up your in for heart ache and pain ! (trust me I know !).

Looks wise, this is down to personal taste. The Tuscan will get the looks because its so unlike any other car (mad styling). Personally I prefer the classic and agressive look of the Cerbera.... which is why I brought one.

A Tuscan owner will now tell you the complete opposite .. so good luck !

Was in the same position myself. Although eventually i got a cerbera i really could not make up my mind what swayed me was (im going to get shot down now) if you get a tuscan were do you go from there. T440 Tuscan R. Thats the only way up. You could go sideways of course T350 Tamora. Going on age the cerbera has been around some while and although i love the shape to bits the technology must go with the newer marques. Well thats my theory and 2 bobs worth

Thankyou

Mark....

ps.. But who cares its a TVR they are all awesome..

My wife told me I could buy any car I wanted as long as it had four seats, So I went Cerb, Always thought Tuscans looked good until I went to a TVR meet last weekend with my Cerb parked next to a bunch of tuscans.

Cerb looked better than all of them, so now I have a cerb for both head and heart reasons.

Tuscan S matey! Had mine from new since Mar'03 and now done 4500 miles, aint had any problems and the car is just awesome! This car just stops traffic/pedestrians wherever it goes (oh maybe the paint job has something to do with it )

All IMO of course but ALL TVR's are great British cars and to own any one model is just brill!!

Good luck with your choice!

Alan.

What new technology is in the tuscan compared to a cerb??
An unreadable, unreliable speedo?
A shorter wheelbase.
Soft fingers!
Sory but I dont buy that argument.
dont forget the T350C.

From a personal viewpoint and after reading all the posts it would have to be a Cerb, but with the latest front and rear end.

Hi guys,

Thanks for all the advice.

I have spoken to the factory and they admit there were issues with the earlier Tuscans; however they say that is no longer the case since they changed one of their suppliers, the problem being they did not hardened the finger folders correctly.

This said are there any other reliability issues with the Tuscan S?

Thx in advance,

Yite

The factory are bound to say all problems are sorted! Just go over to the tuscan section and judge for yourself whether it is.

The shorter wheelbase stuff is crap. The latest Tuscan's and Cerbera's probably handle similarly, though both benefit hugely from after market dampers, if that's what you care about.

I can't see why one would cost more or less than the other (Speed 6 blow ups aside, which won't cost you anything for 2 years on a new car).

Why either. As gazzab hinted, if I were buying new I'd be putting my money in a T350c and choosing the 400bhp option.

Secondhand it would have to be the Cerbera everytime...
