My indicators don't seem to want to work!

It happened a while back, and strangely the next time I drove they decided to work again.

I'm not so fortunate this time, so I need to locate the problem.

I've changed/checked the fuses, and traced the wires as best as I can, and it all appears to be 'normal' - There are a lot of wires than lead to knowhere, but this was always the case, and i'm sure that I haven't suddenly gained additional loose wires with just spade ends.

I've got the battery on trickle charge just to check their is enough juice to get the things working - although it starts ok, and I can get main beam etc. (yes i'm clutching at straws!)

I'm not sure if anyone will be able to help without sticking their head under the dash and bonnet, but thought it was worth raising the question.

You never know they may suddenly decide to work again !!

Otherwise it's the old waving out the windows - not that anyone understands what i'm doing, they probablly think i've gone crazy!!

Are they working at all?

If no check the flasher unit (sometimes on the bonnet bulkhead, sometimes under the dash)

Does the flasher unit work?

If they work intermittently then its probably a dodgy earth or bulb holders or a combination of them both!

Having looked at the wiring on my M tonight I am of the conclusion that the people who wired it were on some kind of hypnotic drug...Its all going to have to be torn out and re-wired otherwise I am forever going to be breaking down!

As has been said, I suspect its a dodgy earth connection somewhere along the lines... Still design really..can you jump a wire from the bulb holder onto a bare bit of chassis and see if that fixes the issue?
