Adjustable shocks for SE

Hey Guys, I measured the distants between my rims and the top of the fender well and have found that the driver side measures almost 1" lower then the passenger side. Can I correct this with replacing the shocks with the adjustable shock where you have a turn ring on the bottom so you can adjust the height of the spring or will this through the handling or dynamics of the car off? and if I can, will I need to replace the springs also to match the shocks?
