I've got a flathead screw bolt on my road bike which is tightened by screwdriver and is a very cheap alternative (found it in my toolbox).

If you're defo not going to remove your seatpost for a while why not bang a bearing into the socket hole? At the end of the day even the Pinhead style security bolts can be undo with a some patience and simple tools.

sounds like a good idea but it is a carbon bike and seat post - not sure how it will cope with that..... also how difficult would it be to remove the ball bearing??

thanks CAB

I think he means bang a ball bearing into the bolt (allen bolt) head to remove any edges - but yes, I probably wouldn't try this on a cf frame. your best bet would be to drill off the edges so you can't get any purchase with an allen key. If you need to remove it get the bolt croppers out or happer in a larger key like a 6mm

Not sure carbon and a hammer would mix well - i wince if somebody so much as approaches it with a hoover....

Think i will end up buying a set of locking bolts...

Thanks CAB
