Tam Costs

Hi,

Does anyone know the typical costs of the following for a Tamora: -

Engine rebuild
Replacement Clutch

Just looking for average costs weighing up TVR ownership.

Depends on the rebuild but circa 5-5.5K would be about right for a full rebuild without any tasty work done

clutch - £600-£1000 depending on what dealer/indie you used

I think rebuilds have come down a bit recently, I was quoted £4.2k with a years warrenty from a well respected engine builder recently.

Cluch not sure but about £800ish.

I would say the same but i have a renaultsport megane 225 and just had my clutch changed at an independent cost of...wait for it...£1200!

The engine rebuild costs are the one main factor that is putting me off...£5k a pop is A LOT of money!

Take your car to Italy for a new clutch and they'll happily take £1600 off you!! Was told £1k by Central TVR yesterday.

If you are back-of-fag-packet budgeting, I'd say £5k for an engine rebuild, and £1k for a clutch.

Engines are variable, probably dependent on the year of manufacture - you might well never need it. Clutch does seem to go from 15k miles (ish), though the replacements are apparently better than the OEM.

seems to have post 2004 engine, no mention of a rebuild or clutch 30k miles. Seems a good price to me!

Mmmmm does look a very good price to me

The car has not had a rebuild and is a 2004 with the newer valves etc. The clutch was inspected 11,000 miles ago when I had the 5th gear synchromesh repaired as it made sense to replace the clutch at the same time. I was told by the dealer that it was "as new" so they just changed the clutch seals etc. Give me a call if you would like any more info.
