Basically as per the title - I have a large DSLR and was wondering whether there is anything out that is specifcally designed for carrying the camera whilst on the bike (probably only needs to cater for one body and lense).

Thanks in advance CAB

ive had a samsonite camera bag for my point and shoot for a couple of years now and can honestly say they are fantastic.

my dslr didnt fit in it though so I bought a canon bag, which was full before id really started buying stuff (lenses filters battery packs etc etc etc) so i got one of these last week.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000CDF63...

they are actually HUGE but come with back pack straps aswell as shoulder strap etc etc so you can wear it like a backpack.

it also has funky seperated internals for all your bits, with 3 LONG compartments for lenses and loads of other pockets.

comes with a waterproof rain cover in the back to which you pull out and over the entire bag if it rains then stuff it neatly in the back compartment when it stops raining (my other one has this too).

could take some pics later if you want, honestly they are pretty damn fine for 60 sheets (although amazon site doesnt tell you anything really i just knew it would be great going from the other one i have)

I've got a Lowepro AW100(i think).
USed it a few times on a motorcycle at reasonable speeds, and its been very good.
Its a small rucksac with a side accessible compartment, and a kind of seat belt shaped strap, so you can unclip and swing the bag over without having to completely remove the bag(difficult to explain, but works really well)
TBH its a bit small, but holds the D80 with lens well enouh, with enough space for maybe another lens, and possibly a flash. Lots of little compartments also for memorycards, cloths and suchlike.

Lowepro Flipside 300 was recommended to me on DPReview forum as an alternative to a Slingshot: it has 2 straps like a back pack but is smaller and quite "solid" so protects your gear well.

Only downside on a bike is if you need quick access as gear is accessed "from the inside" 9see Lowepro's site to see how this works.

However I have loaded it with:

Canon EOS 1DS Mark II with 70-200 F2.8 or F4
Canon 24-105 L
Canon 17-40 L
Canon TC 1.4X
3 spare batteries (huge for 1DS!)
Plenty of memory cards and a couple of lens hoods

Plus you can fit a tripod securely to the outside and add lens pouches securely.

No room for a sandwich or anything after that though. It really is strictly a good tailored protective bag for camera gear.
