yellow - im looking for a road/racing bike to do some training and a little commuting on.

what would be a good bike to start with that wont cos the earth, also if its second hand its no issue - is it worth building from components?

I wouldn't want to spend more than £300-£400 although can stretch to more.

Just got a Specialized Sirrus today. Seems to fit the bill.

I've had a Sirrus for teh last 2.5 years to commute of, and it's perfect to be honest, I fitted slightly slimmer tyres than standard, but it's very fit for purpose, can't fault it. (except gear change is a bit slow)
