Hobbies that you have inexplicably given up

I used to go coarse fishing quite a lot as a kid and teenager. I used to enjoy the relaxation and the hippy connection with nature. I used to have great times with my mother as we would stay as long as possible after dusk: just one last cast, we'd say, as we peered into the gloom. I'd catch bream, tench, roach, rudd... but mostly carp: leather, mirror and common.
Then I discovered fly fishing and the local reservoir, where we had a couple of free lessons. I then pretended to still be under the Novice age limit to fish for £5 for a long time, instead of £22! Even though I was useless at that, it was another feather in my cap.
But then, inexplicably, I started going less and less. I don't think I've grown out of it as I still enjoy it on the rare occasions that I go. I have done a tiny bit of sea fishing since and not really caught much. However, we used to have no problems hoiking carp out of the local ponds.
Same goes with my photography. I used to be out most evenings and weekends, touring the countryside, snapping landscapes and wildlife and also motorsport. With the advent of digital, I began thinking how much slide film was costing me and I had a sabbatical until I could afford a digital SLR. Finances never allowed it, but in the meantime I've picked up my camera only a few times and wonder at the £1000s I spent on kit over the years only to basically waste it now.
So what hobbies have you spent ages acquiring skills for, and then dropped for no real reason?

How odd, like V8S, I also fished heavily through the 60/70/80, with a lot of time spent chasing big barbel, Hamshire Avon / Dorset Stour, from YORKSHIRE. My choice of vehicle MGB'S was dictated by the being a 'sports car' and able to take rods / baskets / waders ete.
Then i bought a Mill, well realy two walls, corrigated asbestos roof / corrigated tin gable ( yes i was MAD) CONVERSTION / EXTENSION took longer than expected, so fishing took a back seat.
Still ca'nt resist buying split cane rods, have some i've not used, but expectations are still high that i'll be back on the bank.

I must have spent most of my spare time between the ages 10 to 16 fishing on the Thames & have stopped going when I discovered girls/motorbikes! My brother still goes a lot, fishes on private lakes for monster carp, he wants me to go sometime but dont really fancy that. But quite tempted to try it again on a nice bit of river, just to get outside really, not that competitive nonsense.

Fishing
RC planes (anyone want to buy a plane?)
Paintball (anyone want to but a paintball gun)
Console games, to an extent. Quiet a big part of my childhood was spent with mates and a PlayStation, but now I can't really be bothered. The recent GTA is lacking in any fun and Forza 2 barely holds my interest on a rainy day. I discovered I really like being outside, on the water sailing or walking around the Dorset countryside, a much better hobby I think!! Now I'm finally getting a decent car (E39 5 Series) I'm going to enjoy some hooning around as well

I used to go fishing in my early teens, but the absolute gutting boredom of sitting on a canal bank, doing absolutely nothing, eventually drove me away to other more exciting hobbies, such as watching paint dry, or grass grow.
