so anyway iv taken a fancy to the a 2006 giant reign 3, however can anyone clarify what the difference betweem the reign 1, reign 2 and reign 3 is? is it just the spec thats different? which one is the best?

Reign 1 is top of the range, 3 has the same frame but lesser everything else.

What he said. Frame is the same across the board.

Reign 3 will have relatively basic kit on it, but is perfectly serviceable. You will, of course, get a great, if slightly weighty, frame as a base, which is worthy of some great upgrades. Heres mine0, bought frame only (euro spec, hence the brown!), built with 2008 XT, Fox Float 36, ZTR/Hope Pro" tubeless wheelset and EA70. Eeeesss niiicee...!

I was going to get a reign 1 before i bought my ransom. I rate giant bikes they are built very well and very ballanced. I dont think you will go far wrong if you buy one and ive never heard a bad thing about them either which says a lot for a bike.

Reign's a good choice, but I'm baised...

As said, same frame but different spec. The better ones will also have a better rear shock too. I bought mine (think it's a 2 but honestly can't remember!) as a frame-only from a mate and it came with a Fox RP23:

Needs proper tyres though frown

What size do you need?

If you want a small one, you can get a brand new (but 2006 OR 2007 year model) for <£1k from here:
2006 - http://www.paulscycles.co.uk/products.php?plid=m1b...
2007 - http://www.paulscycles.co.uk/products.php?plid=m1b...

They also had brand Reign 3's for £800 but they're gone. Based on that I think £550 for a lightly used one seems fair, IMO.

Cheers, yep i think your right about that, i think i might need to upgrade the disks though to some 8" ones, the 6's are a bit small considering it likes to go down mountains so quickly yes.
Think i might have to get some tractor tyres ready for the winter thumbup

If you leave the 6`s on you will ride faster down hills, Cos when you get brake fade you will just have to hold on and ride the ride laugh
