Hi,

I need to change the rear tyres on the Wedge.

What is standard size tyre for the lattice style 15" wheels?

It is currently shod with 205, 50, 15.

Seems a bit too low profile.

Thanks

James

Standard size for the 350i is 205 x 60 x 15V
There is a limited choice of tyres available in this profile so many have changed to lower profile - this does affect ratios and speedo accuracy but only by a limited amount

Yes, I thought they were wrong.

My try to source a set of the correct size, as it looks like its ready for an off-road challange!

If you already have 50 series sticking the standard 60 series will be an of road contender.

Also depends on how harsh you like the ride. I tend to go for 55 as a bit more flexible and takes the well kept english roads in its stride smile

Mind you with no engine in it it will probably be like a tractor already smile

If you are thinking of changing tyre sizes this size calculator might come in handy.

There aee plenty of tyres available in 60 profile, its the more popular 'sports' versions that only come in lower profile. Try Blackcircle - online but links to fitting centres.
The 50 profile does leave a big gap in the wheel arch, I run 60s

Hopefully if my 'stuff' comes tommorrow, courtesy of Rimmer bros. It will at least benefit from a fitted engine!
(I'm not going to say 'working' just yet!)

Try some Vredestein Sportrac 3's

Trickie had the Sportrac 2 on his 350 (I think they were 225 60 R 15) and they worked a treat

A little movement in the tread when brand new so bed them in well before proper hooning biggrin

Slightly different twist on things here.

Is it not worth taking the opportunity to upgrade to 225 width tyres on the rear?

The four bags of sand the previous owner left in the boot, suggest this beast is a little tail-happy!

Is there clearance issues?

Wouldn't have thought so...is it trailing arm or A-frame ?

Mmmmm...scratchchin

I am not sure to be honest, I keep meaning to look. It was built at the change-over period, so could be either :keepsfingerscrossedforlatertype:

Well, if it's got big tri-angular wishbone thingies running out to the back wheels from the middle of the chassis....it's an A-frame...much better for big power smile

:
If A frame you may need about 5mm spacers on the rear or fit Spub tie bars which give an extra 10mm or so extra clearance. I think 225 will have to be 50 profile

Trailing arms.
