Ive booked in for my first track day at the end of the month smile I know Hannah is going, any other local Pistonheaders going? any advice would be welcome.
One question, the tyres on the Westfield look fairly old (still plenty of tread) do I go to the trackday before replacing ( thinking of Toyo888s)and wear them out or try to afford the new tyres before I go?

ok another tyre question, top of my list at the moment for my replacements are the said Toyo 888s , the car will be mainly used on the road but with the odd track day, Any other tyres worth considering? and where is the best/cheapest place to buy.

thanks in advance Steve smile

I'll be there in the sunbeam.

Regarding tyres - use and abuse the old ones first as airfields do have a high wear rate frown I had a new set of 888's fitted before I attended Woodbridge last year, by the end of the day one of said tyres was down to 2mm banghead although this was probably down to the car...

Make sure you take another set to get you home legally cop

See you there....

Yes, I'm booked (Paul Scott)
I'll be wearing an old set of AO21Rs. A good alternative to 888s are Yokohama AO48s. I wear them for the road and some tracks like Snetterton. They're very good, but if its very wet I put on a set of AO21Rs as, like 888s, they are allegedly prone to aquaplane if you get a lot of standing water with a light car.
I'm looking forward to Woodbridge. I've just done Waterbeach Twisty Drag Racing with Javelin and they seem to be a good outfit.
I hope their track behaviour policing is adequate. I've seen some really crazy driving at airfield days that hasn't been black flagged.nono

I'd use the ones you've got on the car & wear them down rather than trash an expensive set of 888s. See you there - I just need to pay for the day!

Hannah - I normally wait till the Friday before unless its showing near the maximum number of places 'confirmed'.

Ok well I've paid & the car, I think, is fully functional. I'll be bringing a female friend who SAYS she's into cars but screamed her head off this morning when my tyres slipped on the gras slightly. She doesn't yet know that I love going sideways at speed. I'm hoping that she does decide to come along & if I'm feeling particularly cruel, will get her a passenger ride with Stevo666 so she knows the real meaning of speed & grip. hehe

hey Hanna, Looking forward to Sunday now, should be a good day, hope your friend does come, although I may scream more than her if I go for a passenger ride (never been a good passenger).
See you there smile your welcome to pop in ours on the way for a cuppa if you want. smile

Are spectators allowed? If so I might pop over for a couple of hours.

Mike, I emailed Javelin last week to ask about spectating. They told me to just pop over, didn't seem like a problem.

So i am planning on going over to watch Steve take on Woodbridge in his yellow beast and hopefully watch the other Steve in his spotlessly polished sunbeam!

Its on the old Airfield part next to the new barracks, use postcode IP12 3HY.

No point in turning up before 09.30 as no revving of engines allowed beforehand therefore no sound test.

The track time starts at 10.00.

Ditto. Are spectators allowed? I have a new camera to test in a 'sports' environment...

What a great day smile My first track day was a great experience made even better by Hannah, Susser, Gary, and Steve( and mate ) being there, I thoroughly enjoyed finding out what my car is like on the limit and over the limit ( lost it big style on one corner) the feeling of coming out of a corner on full power on opposite lock was awsome.I was really pleased with how the Westfield went, fast and progressive on the limit, Hope Hannah and Gary enjoyed the passenger rides smile

Highlight of the day for ,me was coming out of a corner on opposite lock and getting a thumbs up from Hannah in the passenger seat cool

Thanks guys for a great day !!!

Ps I wont mention Hannah in the trees on the main straight eek
