So how much does a GTR weigh?
Discussion
Popped into work today to use the corner weight equipment.
Full tanks, all fluids in, all tools out but camera in situ. Now I would say that mine is on the lardy side. Over std equip I have a double din audio, lots of heavy insulation material, a carpeted interior possibly 30kg of extras. I'm pretty happy with it. The corner splits are another story, but that can wait.
Here's the score:

And here the weights minus driver:

And here with a lardy 93kgs of Lucky:

Check the difference between fronts!!!

'Is there anything else you'd like to ask me?'

No seriously, it's pretty obvious that my corner weights (side to side) are way out.
I'll track it like it is, and then get a specialist to juggle the platforms. I'll probably want to get the ride heights near as poss to Fac rec. and then fine tune the side to side with me in as near as poss.
Anyone with a calc work out what the front/rear % is now (minus and plus moi?)

Thanks for doing this Pete. I've been meaning to get mine down and get some corner weights, but just haven't gotten around to it.
Am I reading this right, that the way to fine tune these weights is through ride height adjustments?

That is my understanding. Am I reading this right, that the way to fine tune these weights is through ride height adjustments?

I'm researching it as I type.
All concrete slabs are not perfectly level, nor are they perfectly uniform in height across the entire pour. Since you have found a side-to-side bias in your car, I would turn her around to make sure only a small amount of that, if any, is explained by the floor or any other height issue amongst the four scales. One 180 answers any question. Sounds silly, but I would do it next time.

a good geo set will be 10times cheaper than just adding power to gain big lap time decreases..
Here's a good and easy to understand article on corner weights.

Looks to me as through the left front and right rear need the platform height raised slightly.
The lack of weight on the front end probably explains the GTR's tendency to have the front run wide when really pressing on. An overall increase in height at the rear (raising the rear or lowering the front) should get more weight transfered to the front of the car.
Also, the understeer can be eliminated by unsettling the car by giving the rear axle a bit (1mm) of toe out.
Just my 2p. Haven't tried this theory on an Ultima though.

If your intending on using it on the track don't with those figures. Get it done before it will make a huge difference to the handling. If anything happens on track you will kick yourself for not getting it done first.Gassing Station | Ultima | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
