insuring a kit car
Discussion
Hi All,
Have been looking at an R1 engined MK Indy. I am 20 and have been driving for 3 and a half years, I have 1 years NCB and 1 accident(over 3 years ago). I was wondering how much I should expect the insurance to be? Would it being kept on a drive/street make a huge difference? It would only be used as a weekend/track car. Which companies are kit car friendly? Especially Q plate kit cars.
Thanks
Steve

You need a broker.
I've had nothing but excellent service from these people:

btw, I'm in insurance; but the company I work for doesn't do kit cars, so I go to MSM.

I've heard things have changed, but when I was your age (i.e under-21 I'm only 25 now, despite the old man tone...
) Footman James were the ones to go for. Sureterm are worth a go too (they insured my second kit, again under-25).
It used to be that FJ worked purely on capacity, so your BEC would be cheaper than my old 1.6 Quantum was!
