MIL warning light

After struggling to get in to the car after the battery went flat - think an earthquake here in Tokyo during the week might have triggered the alarm. (How many of you can come up with that excuse!) - I know find that the MIL lamp is on - could this be caused by the battery running flat - is there something I need to reset - or is it something else ?

Sorry just pushing this to the top to try and get some feedback.
I realise now that the MIL light is unlikely to be triggered by the battery running flat and could be because I had recently washed the car and maybe a sensor was damp. I left her for a couple of days and started her today and the MIL light is on before the engine is running - at the moment I do not have the diagnostic lead or software - should I be worried. Is there a way of resetting the light to see if it comes on again - that aware affirming there is a problem? At the moment - oil pressure, temp, water temp etc all seem fine and the engine is running smoothly. As I said everything was fine before it was washed and the battery ran flat - any advice appreciated

As far as I'm aware only current faults will turn the MIL lamp on - logged faults will not.
The only ways to turn the MIL off are to re-set the faults through the software, or apparently there is a diagnostic box (TVR service tool?) which can be used to re-set them.
The document below lists some of the other things that might turn the MIL on - many of these could be caused by damp connectors, or even by a low battery voltage.

I think your best bet is to get a lead made up, and get the downoad the software.
