Just bought an S4 (2.7TT) 2000 model. Looked at a few and chose one without any suspect rattling noises from the engine, and which did have 101k on the clock but with a full Audi service history. Generally v. pleased etc.

I am aware that these engines respond quite well to a re-map and was considering having this done. I also believe that a few other mods may be required for reliability reasons including changing the recirculation valves to later TT types.

What sort of power/torque figures could I reasonably expect if I only wanted to spend £300-£500? Would the performance increase be significant in terms of how the car feels to drive? And lastly, does anyone know of a firm in the Brighton/ Sussex area who is good at this sort of work?

Many thanks in advance.

Steve.

Steve, I had my A4 (and the previous one smile) remapped by Kim Collins at QS Tuning in Haywards Heath. Known and respected, not the cheapest but you get what you pay for?

S4 tuning page http://www.qstuning.com/display.php?make=1&mod...

Just for the record, I purchased the '245bhp' option and I have a RR graph on my desk showing I ended up with 269bhp smile

If nothing else, drive up there and have a chat with Kim.

MRC tuning seem to be very popular with the S4 boys, I believe the two owners have S4's rinning circa 400 & 500bhp worth having a look at if nothing else

Thanks guys.

Looks like I may have underestimated the cost but a few hundred extra quid shouldn't break the bank.

Fubar... Cheers for the advice. I may well take a little trip up to HH and introduce myself. Did the power/torque feel much different after the re-map? Any reliability issues?

Any one had any first hand experience of an MRC re-map/ chip?

All advice gratefully received!

Steve.

It definitely gave the car an extra, more muscular shove (torque went up quite a bit too, but at home now so dont have the figures to hand). Not mental but can defo feel the difference.

No reliability issues so far smile

Speak with Doug at MRC, they specialize in S4 & RS4 tuning & live mapping. His S4 was pushing 194mph at recent V-max as well.

I dont think he will get 194mph with his budget.

Actually, my mistake, i meant to say 198mph. Obviously you wont get that with a simple re-map but the majority of their work is S4/RS4 related.

Go to MRC in Banbury - more than recommended. I drive from Bristol to go there for services such is their ability and savings over Audi dealers. To the enthusiast a MRC stamp in the book would be worth more anyway. MRC will healthcheck your car prior to remap which should tell you if there's anything that needs addressing.

More specifically for the remaps...

No affiliation etc - other tuners are available. DYOR.

Thanks guys. On the face of it, it would seem MRC are most recommended and priced very reasonably but it's a bit of a journey to get there from here. Think I'll have think about it and if I'm in the Banbury area soon I may well be tempted.

Thanks for all the input!

Steve.
