Right then folks...

Don't you think its about time we met up for a wee ride somewhere?

As i recently moved to Bristol and have never ridden Afan, may i selfishly suggest that as a possible location. General XC day out.

Dates wise, could either do a day over the bank holiday (would that be a traffic error?) or could do first weekend in September.

was thinking one of these 3.

Afan
Sunday 24 August
Monday 25 August
Saturday 6 September

Now Afan is the selfish choice. open to others mind...

As an aside, would also bee keen to do a day on the uplift at Cwm Carn too sometime soon.

Any takers?

Can't do any weekdays Moonie, but i'd be up for a ride later in the month certainly. Happy to go anywhere, but i'll be riding as opposed to gaying it up on the uplift if we end up at CC againwink

I see no email in my inbox you bugger (re: riding, not hoonswink ) - I'll get you out locally, and possibly uplift stylee at Cymcarn...

I know I've been crap at getting out with Pete recently (sorry Pete) but we'll be out this week, if you're around.

I'm off to CyB in late September, but can't really make it out to Wales in the meantime.

Anyone interested in a South East ride? Maybe Broxbourne, Epping or Danbury?

I need to get a new front hub for my Orange after the pounding it took in PdS last week, but assuming I can manage that I might be up for a quick spin smile

If you're thinking of a trip to Afan you could do worse than signing up for

http://www.konaworld.uk.com/mash-up/

I'll be joining the technical catagory. Guys in Skyline (the Bike Shop at Afan) say it'll be a chilled out event, so no need to sit around all day stressing thinking about how to shave 1 or 2 secs off you blackrun time.

That looks good. I did Whites Level on Saturday in the rain in 1hr 5 minutes-ish according to my car clock.

Actually, there have been various people talking about a local ride, may be worthy of a seperate thread for us southerners (or should that be easterners?).

PS... Afan... That takes me back. I lived in Swansea for three years and that was my local trail centre, fifteen minutes down the M4. It's not especially taxing, but I actually prefer the Penhydd trail. cloud9

IIRC There's a vaguely entertaining road down to the trail centre too. thumbup

Haven't they moved the trail centre to the other side of the road recently? It used to be that the Penhydd started by the trail centre (off to the right as you came down fromt he M4) and Whyte's Level started from a car park about a mile further down the road on the left.

Lasagne? Back in my day (so to speak...) they were all about the omlettes! Simpler times... smile

Ahh yeah, The Wall, Penhydd and the new W2 start from the Afan forest centre and Whites Level and Skyline (I think) start from the Glyncorrwg centre - which has the Lasagne, Omlettes, Toasted Panini's amongst loads of other lovely stuff. So much so that I ate too much and struggled with the 6km climb out of the centre on Friday afternoon!

There's a new trail? scratchchin

Maybe time to re-visit! Thinking of making the MTB trip next month into a bit of a road trip, so maybe I should hop from Cwm Carn to Afan and then up through the twistier bits of Wales to CyB. Hmmm...

Only new in as far as they've joined 'The Wall' red route up with 'Whites Level' purple loop to make one big 45km jobby. You do half of the red, then join the black which is essential Whites and then pick up the red again to drop back down into the Afan car park. Makes for a brilliant ride if your legs are feeling strong.
