so the day has come..!

new discs and pads on front at 29,000 miles. seems quite reasonavble to me as on two fiestas i couldn't get them past 17,000 a set (bit cheaper though!).

I thought i'd just bite the bullet and let bmw do them this time. maybe go to a specialist next time. again £240ish all in could be worse.

any views.

...yeah i know but even the parts make up half of that, they're sh4gged, the wife needs the car for a long journey, and i kind of can't be arsed!wink

but in terms of wear.. that's retty good i thought for 'road use.

out of interest... how much were the brembos (with std mini brakes being the worse thing about them...)?

Brembos start at £1,175 and if you want floating discs it goes up to £1,590

If i wanted to upgrade to something decent, but cheap. Go for a set of Wilwoods, £400 from the states.

They also do a rear BBK cloud9

Had my fronts replaced at c.28k and my rears needed doing at 30ish. not the cheapest visit to the stealers. fronts I could understand, but the rears i was a bit suspect, until I saw them.

I think the standard brakes on a Cooper S are relatively under sized/powered, they seem to wilt soemwhat after a blast, which is a common occurance. (I live in the countryside)

they drfintely are. on my 2005 and i don't find the pedal goes especially limp or anything.. they just don't feel strong enough. having said that they do at least have feel unlike a lot of VAG cars or even the r56 which has much better brakes but with a dull feel.
