By popular demand I've organised a late summer run for the PHEA region that will take in roads in North Suffolk/South Norfolk.

Date 21st September 2008

As we all live in different parts of the region the plan is to drive from three different start points and end up somewhere for lunch. After lunch we'll have another drive and finish somewhere else for tea and cakes!!

So we don't create a moving roadblock, I'm proposing that we split in to smaller groups and set off every 10mins or so with one person leading the group who has the directions (having a passenger is helpful). I've done this with the Subaru guys and it works well as it means the whole group isn't stuck behind someone doing 30mph!!!

Start Point A
Milton Tescos in Cambridge
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&am...
Organised by me

Start Point B
Copdock Tecsos in Ipswich
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&am...
Organised by Simpo Two

Start Point C
Travelodge car park at Thickthorn Service station
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&am...
Organised by iluvmercs (Darren)

Lunch
Lunch will be at Knettishall Heath Country Park and will be a picnic (bring your own food). No BBQs allowed
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&am...
There is a £1 car park fee

Finish
We'll finish up at the Elveden Estates café just off the A11 for tea and cakes.

You you plan on coming please put your details below and PM me with your e-mail address and the start point you will be using. I'll then send any updates via e-mail.

Thanks Mark

Hmmmm....I could may be do the Norfolk-contingent run thumbup

How long (in time) does the run have to be to the lunch meeting point? Or what would lunch be?
Starting at Norwich, moving down some country lanes, or main roads to Diss, and then over.
Or Norwich to Gt Yarmouth, and back again to Diss and the lunch point?

I will bring the BBQ along if it's allowed, and if that's what people would like to do.

My house is only 25 minutes from the A11 at Thetford. Obviously I would have to run it by the parents. I don't think they would go for it, but I can always ask.

Just let me know what you think of the run ideas, and can you confirm in BBQs are allowed, please Mark.

I will ask Mum and Dad, at the earliest possible time, about a possible BBQ at mine, and go from there. My Dad isn't home from work until the weekend, though.

This sounds like a great run. As long as the weather is good, please count me in.

I am more used to dawn (5AM) runs in Kent(to get the best of the empty roads at these times). What are the road/traffic like in East Anglia on a Sunday?

Hi Quyen

The roads I'm planning are normally pretty dead most of the time. The A roads can get busy but the B roads should be OK.

Regards

Mark

The prospect of quiet roads far from my usual stomping ground is tantalising. I'll just have to take it very easy at Fuller's brewery tour the previous day. headache

Just heard back from the Ranger at Knettishall Heath. No BBQs allowed because of the fire risk, which makes sense really.

So a fine hamper from Fortnum and Mason it is wink

Sounds like fun! We're at Newmarket races the day before so as long as we don't lose the car on a horse we'll be there!

I am best man at a wedding in Gretna Green for the 3 days before (Gulp!), but I am hopeful I will be able to see straight enough to keep Darren company from the Norwich meet.

Hmm, for those who say 'all you ever do is shows, why don't you do more runs' - I'd have expected a bit more interest TBH. A lot of time and effort goes into organising days like this - please sign up - especially if you're in Darren's sector!
