Prices have been announced for BMW’s flagship X6 - the twin-turbocharged xDrive50i. The car is aimed squarely at the Porsche Cayenne GTS and the supercharged Range Rover Sport and features a 4,395cc V8 powerplant.

Twin-turbo X6 will cost almost £54K and can hit 60mph in 5.4 seconds
The 402bhp xDrive50i will go on sale in November and will be £53,930 OTR. Its top speed is limited to 155mph and it can accelerate to 60mph in 5.4 seconds.
BMW says the car is 1.8 seconds quicker from zero than the Range Rover and with an emissions figure of 299g/km it is 75g/km cleaner. The Porsche in Tiptronic form is 1.4 seconds slower from zero to 62mph, 2.3mpg less efficient and, at 332g/km, it is 33g/km more polluting.

The BMW is also just as ugly and bulky as the porsche and Range rover.

Just to be the lone voice of positivity - I have seen a couple on the roads and there is something about them I like. Yes, they are huge, but I love that about it.
It's almost like a sanitised Judge Dredd vehicle.
The engineering, speed, comfort, equipment...I for one applaud our new 4xCoupe overlords.
If it were not for the fact that things like this are becoming so socially unacceptable it's going to make their drivers targets, I would have one in a shot.

+1. There's a black one parked up round the corner from us and it's really not that bad. Dare I say that relative to the rest of the current BMW range it's about par for the course ? Dont know about the rest of you but there's very few (if any) of them are actually what I would call pretty...It's almost like a sanitised Judge Dredd vehicle.

Why are car manufacturers locked in a battle to see who can can produce the fastest truck? Leave that to Scania or MAN. Surely in this day and age manfacturers should be boasting about making cars faster and more efficient by using technology to make them lighter, not using technology to make them faster DESPITE their weight. A total technological dead end.

Oh wait - we are supposed to have one car for loading, one car for passengers, one car for going fast, one car for accessing the more remote areas abundant here in the North.
Christ - if anything, this is the car with the MOST point! It's pretty damn good at just about everything you need from a vehicle.

Mate, that's the winner tho. For me, I know I would not spend full whack on one - but give it 18 months and the purchase price is going to be bloody attractive - especially given the 'swiss army' nature of it's abilities. yes, the boot lines are a slight compromise, but it's still LARGE in there. It would suit me down to the ground - for all the reasons I already mentioned.Plus I have a tiny cock, so it's made for me!
