Gallardo clutch???
Discussion
Did you not realise the cost of parts/labour when you purchased the car, or did you just have a hard on thinking about driving it when you saw it in the showroom?
Cltuch itself goes for about £4k, so if the £5k includes labour, then that's about right, I'm assuming that they aren't going to charge you £1.5k to check that the clutch is gone.
What's the mileage on the current clutch? Anything less than 10,000km (6k miles) may indicate other problems.

I think the clutch is going on my Gallardo Spyder. I've asked Lambo brum to take a look and they've quoted me 1500pounds just to take a look.
They reckon if it is gone i'm looking around 5000pounds to replace it.
Can anyone help me please???? ie. alternatives, cost effective, etc

This thread should help. Think it mentions clutch and flywheel for £1500 including VAT and having it fitted by a specialist.

Sorry for the confusion everyone.
-the car is a manual gearbox
-lambo brum quote was, if the thrust bearing (spell check)had been damaged aswell, if so it would cost 5k. But also stated that the TB was under warranty and so lambo would only charge for the clutch and not labour and TB.
- Reason i think the clutch is gone is because the gear stick is not going into any of the gears properly

You can get a clutch fitted by a specialist for around £2k. The moment your car goes into a Lambo dealer and they crack the clutch open, you are doomed. From experience, you would actually be better off going to a specialist and having a genuine clutch fitted rather than relying on the promises of a Lambo dealer to "help you out" once they have discovered what is wrong.
This topic really confuses me, or at least one of the replies
I’m no expert but I’d hazard a guess any mechanic could take a short drive in a manual and tell if you if something was wrong with the clutch or bearing. I had the clutch and bearing replaced last December for the first time after 45,000 miles (e-gear). It not my place to state prices, but let’s just say it was nowhere near £5K. That was at a Lamborghini dealer who even spent the time showing me the parts removed and explaining it all to me. The clutch actually still had 2mm left – which taking into account they start a life with about 5.6mm ( don’t quote me on that) was still very usable, probably could have lasted another 10K at least. I seem to recall the thrust bearing was updated at some point in the past, mine was a early 2005 model.
Recounting my own experience, the dealer knew at once after I’d described the loud noise after moving off from a stop, that the bearing needed to be looked at.
