Stolen Ford Cortina - help?
Discussion
This is a call for help regarding a stolen car belonging to my nephew.
The car was bequeathed to him by my stepfather and he has kept the car maintained and on the road for the last 20 years.
It’s a 1964 Mk1 pre “Airflow” Ford Cortina with a 2 door body. The main colour is mid-blue with a white roof. It was stolen from his driveway in Chessington, Surrey on or about Thursday 31st July in the early hours. It was not drivable so would have likely been towed or loaded onto a trailer / low loader.
At first, like many, we wondered why someone would go to this sort of bother to steal a low value car. It was then pointed out that it would make a perfect basis for an early A-frame Lotus Cortina , possibly a race replica – and how much would that be worth.
So, if you hear or see of anything that might lead us to the car, or the people who nicked it, we would be eternally grateful (as well as very generous with the old grog).
Please feel free to make comments. Any info. might be best sent by Private Message.
Thanks for your time and attention.

Heads up classic Ford owners. the local rag has an article on a mk1 and mk2 Escort going missing in this area and a while back similar cars being stolen. Including ones garaged. Irish sounding gents knocking on doors asking questions about old Fords parked on driveways, in a Generic Japanese Pickup. Lock 'em away safe from the thieving bast*!ds. I am afraid they probably pinched the Cortina for parts along with the others. Is nothing safe anymore?
