Probably nanny state product liability.
"Although Mintex's M1155 compound was designed for competition use, it is used by many taking part in track day events or for heavy road use. Also suitable for applications such as Group A and N rally cars and circuit saloons best suit this material. M1155 has a similar friction level to M1144, but remains consistent to a maximum operating temperature of 550-600°c. Like M1144 there are no special bedding in procedures for M1155 and they work pretty well from cold, but do expect some disc wear and brake dust."

1155's are basically one grade up from the 1144's, they were previously the prodrive approved upgrade pad on the Impreza.they are not recommended for road use - any idea why ?
They have a greater friction co-efficient, so are a more aggresssive pad. They need a little heat in them before they are on song and if not used fairly heavily, have a tendancy to glaze over and make the brakes squeal like buggery, often needing to be removed to de-glaze the pad surfaces.
Other than that, they are a decent compound material generally.

Why not use Pagid RS29s? Endurance race pads which are fine to use on road. If they glaze and squeal (which they will on the road) then a few 80 to 30 stops will do the trick. Several of us on this forum use them. they are not recommended for road use - any idea why ?

RS29's are bloody expensive as well, I was quoted around £250 a set compared to the ds2500's at £75 a set...
RS29s are the way to go. If you use them properly there is almost zero noise and the performance is amazing even from cold.
Even if they are a bit more cash (I think front and backs added up to around £350 inc VAT) they will probably last longer, not damage your discs and give you excellent performance.

RS29s are the way to go. If you use them properly there is almost zero noise and the performance is amazing even from cold.
