Does anyone on here own an SP6 or are you all 'purists' and would only have a AJP8 Cerb? tongue out

I'm not a Speed 6 owner, but a few people I know who do have them - love them and prefer them to drive over a an AJP.

I have only driven a couple - but have to say, they are very smooth and obliging (if you can use that word to describe a Cerbera).

Far Eastender has a Speed Six which sounds brilliant and he pedals it around a track as fast (sometimes faster) than the V8s. But then again, he is a loon hehe

I am due to pick my Cerbera Speed 6 up this saturday! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) Can you tell i'm excited? I'm also nervous as to if i've done the right thing or not? I wanted a V8 and have always overlooked the Speed 6 however the car i saw ticked every other box apart from the V8 one. Since then i've come to the conclusion that as my first Cerbera and also first TVR that the more mild mannered and easyer to drive/live with Speed 6 might be the correct choice for me to start with. I can always buy a V8 engine'd Cerb at a later date. Finding one that ticks all the other boxes though, well thats another thing. Dose anyone else care to comment as to if they think i'm doing the right thing here? Just to add that when buying a Speed 6 be aware that they can have problems and put aside a contingency fund or go for one thats just been rebuilt 5k ago like i have. Guy.

I'm very happy with my S6. I bought it more for long distance driving than tracking and it's been totally trouble free in the 2 years or so that I've owned it. Having said that I always warm it up properly and get it serviced according to the owners manual.

I think that you will find less problems with these engines now, as owners have made upgrades and the TVR 'S6 experts' have continued to improve the quality of the repairs they are making using better parts etc.

Ha ha! I will take some over the next week or two and put them up on here. I picked the car up yesterday and already used a full tank of fuel! How many miles should i be getting out of a tank only i think mine is overly thirsty! Ok ok it might have something to do with constantly slowing down then testing the acceleration out on it or leaving it in low gears and backing off at high revs all the time to hear it pop and cackle! He he! I do hope i grow out of this soon as its gonna get expensive! Lol! Seriously though once i've calmed down how far do you think a tank will get me? There are a few issues i have with it which i'm going to start another thread for, see if anyone can shed some light on. First impressions on the Speed 6 though are that as a first TVR i've made the right choice. Not too noisy not too hard a ride and fast, bloody FAST! ;-) Guy.

Speed six here. No question it is a great car, though mine has been a right royal pain in the wallet at times. But, like most of the things you love in life, a few negatives can make the bond stronger. 'Through sickness and in health' etc....

Managed around 350 miles on a tank, but it takes an enormous amount of self control to achieve.

As for the 'Purists' comment, the AJP8 is great no doubt, but both engines were first seen in a Cerb. If both then got rolled across the newer fleets i.e. tuscan etc, I'm not sure the AJP8 would carry the same kudos for their owners. Cerb is a fantastic car in whatever form it takes. I would love to own both variants, but Mrs Buffoon feels unloved enough without another competitor for my affections.hehe
