ken Hom Wok - what is this part for?

I've just bought one of these:

And it has a removable stainless steel bracket/rack thing that can be sat on the rim of the wok. The instructions dont say what this is for and my 2 Chinese colleagues dont know either

So what is it for?

You could use it as a steamer for fish or veg? Fill wok with water put bits on rack and if the lid fits even better.

It's for draining the oil off if you make tempura.
