I've attached my print from the griff rolling road.... not to interested in who's rolling road is high or low.

I'm looking at others on the rolling road on at the Growl 08.... and my torque figure seems less then others..... have i got a more consistant torque then others across the rev range or am i missing something ?

cheers

Mines almost identical as is Steve Prevetts (J524) so nothing to worry about me thinks.
Mine was done early Saturday when it was wet so maybe its just atmospherics causing some minor variations.
Mines got that little dip on the torque line around 3,330 and so has Steves?? Wonder if any other precats have that?
Good consistent numbers though on the majority of precats, so mileage seems to do them good. Grover is 100k, mine 250k, not sure on you or Steve but suspect big numbers.

I can't see yours and copying the link only gives me a small image. Here's mine for comparison though.

mines only just hit 50k.... i'm well impressed with LordGroovers figures with that mileage.....infact considering 250k in yours FFG that is mightly impresssive as well

chatting with the chaps from crazy horses they said that there seemed to be a pattern with the out puts which almost related to year of manufacture ie year = strong/weak engines

I tried four different ECUs on my 4.3 precat, and they all gave different bhp and torque. What that tells me is that any 'blips' could well be due to the fuelling at a particular point in the map. I imagine you could iron a the blip by remapping, but unless you notice a flat spot in driving, I wouldn't worry.
The CH operator described my best torque curve as 'perfect - the upturned saucer'. So that's what it should look like!

Simon said the slight dips in my torque curve at about 3,300 & 3,800 RPM was down to it running a little rich at those points. He said it was so small though that it's not worth worrying about. It pulls like a train though. biggrin

Hopefully Si4.3 will read this and provide more info and correct me - he was listening to and understanding what Simon of Crazy Horses was telling me. redface

Cant beat a properly maintained high mileage motor 122k and counting, motor spins up a treat, and getting some fettling over the winter(still on original cam HC)nice to see some positive posts about HP and high mileage in the same sentence rather than namby pamby winging about TVR,s with more than 30k needing full motor rebuilds(the RV8 being a racing engine an allrolleyes)well done fella,s nice outputs thumbuplove reading stuff like this wink

Mine gained just over 6hp and about 30 lb/ft torque over nearly the whole curve just due to an air filter change, although two runs on different days, the old one was pretty bad mind.

Use this url for the full size printout:

Hoover: It looks spot on to me - peak torque around 4000 and peak power at 5500 - and a good peak power as well!

It looks like either the timing is retarded at the top end, or the engine is starved of air. There may be 5 to 10 bhp from some small induction mods if you haven't already done them... smile

It's interesting how much higher up the revs your BHP is peaking. Mine's spent by 4,900 RPM.

Steve, your power printout is almost spot on mine although mine goes up another 20bhp and 20ft/lb by 5000 rpm (Not measured at growl though). Remember mine is a tweaked 500, so yours is amazing for what you have done!!

The car is still running the original chip as well, I'm not sure about changing it as the car is running spot on

I noticed that..... not sure why yours is making peak power at a lower revs though...

maybe its a different cam ???

LG looking at your printout I notive that the scale is slightly different from mine on the bottom axis (rpm) mine is at 600rpm intervals, yours 650. so we just need to watch that when comparing etc.

It shouldn't affect the shape of the graph. It's good to see so many of we old-timers putting up a good fight though. biggrin
