Can anyone help,

My c220 is giving me gip! The butterfly valve is 'fluttering' in the inlet manifold making the car not run correctly, the end result are plooms of smoke out the exhaust and loss of power. It starts doing this when the accelarator reaches a certain point, or certain revs. Usually around 60-70mph in 5th gear... Which is annoying as Im always on the m/way.... grrr

Anyone got any advice as to how I can sort it, if there is a fix or just buy a new unit!!

Throttle possition sensor. One thing to be careful of with these engines is the oil level. DO NOT OVERFILL! Even by a small amount. I'm not sure of the route but oil in an over filled engine can get into the combustion chamber and case awfull running problems. Makes the engine knock terribly.

Good luck in finding your problem

Does the engine management light ever come on??

Fault codes: Plug in a reader to the OBDII port (£20 ones on ebay work rather well!!) it reads the codes stored & will reset it.

The EML does not come on. The only light that ever really comes on that isnt I guess is the bulb light as the car has a habit of chewing through its bulbs, but thats another story I guess.

I might have to get one of those plug in reader things.

Im sure it has something to do with the Gas recycling thingy... Not sure why but isnt that where the butterfly valve is!!! hmmmm grrrrrrrr

Also, the problem is not just at 60-70 mph but thats at its most common where its starts juddering/misfiring(im normally accelarating up to 60-70 so mis out the other speeds) .... as soon as I squeeze the accelarator its fine, its just as I let the foot off the accelerator slightly that it happends...
