BMW 635 shipped to Australia

I have sold my 1987 635 to a guy in Australia. He has just picked it up and he has told me that the cd has been taken out, the alternator and battery failed on his way home. He has asked me to pay him for the repair and his flight to go and collect the car. When I left the car with the shipping company she was as I stated and running well. I even had a garage check her over prior to sending her and correct a misfire.

So, a battery ran out of juice after several weeks crossing the globe without any trickle charging, that's not surprising.

Who paid for the shipping? Assuming you sold it FOB then the buyer's gripes re the CD are with his shipping company.

He paid for the shipping. I telephoned the shipping company to let them know what was missing and they just could not be bothered. It was as if this was a common occurance.

Not suprising really, I thought it was fairly well known that anything in the car will be stolen during transit, especially so if it was roll on/roll off and there is basically sod all you can do about it. Some people just put everything in the boot and weld it shut (also a done by those shipping illegal stuff). A private shipping container is a more secure way of sending stuff but that obviously costs a lot more.
