making the most of my love film membership so was wondering if you guys could recommend any decent cycling dvd's;
- History of the TDF was ok...
- Greatest Show On Earth, The / La Course has just arrived and is meant to be quite special

So what else is there out there???

Thanks CAB

Klunkerz, a history of the mtb.Possibly the most informative dvd for the off road cyclist ever made.Brilliant!
Any world cycling production dvd's, they're all brill imo.Especially the Classics, boy can Ligget and Sherwin tell a story smile
Another gripper, The World 24hours Solo race, the one where Eatough races against Aussie Craig Gordon,2006 in think, the level of pain Gordon puts on himself is only really understood when he's interviewed in his hospital bed.Unreal what people will do to themselves to win.
Kranked, the whole series, all entertaining

I might sound a bit juvenile here, but the New World Disorder series is quite good fun! smile

I quite like the wintersports stuff that MSP have done too. paperbag

I think it was called "seasons". Stunning. The whistler footage was breathtaking.

I was disappointed by "Seasons" which didn't leave me gagging to go out and ride after it. "Roam" was much, much better smile

Both done by "The Collective".

As above all the collecive films are great. "The Collective" "Roam" "Seasons" imho there's a big gulf between them and most mtb films. If you go to www.thecollectivefilm.com you can download trailers.

As above "seasons" and "Roam" are at the top of the list when it comes to DVD's. They are very skilfully shot and have some incredible riding and scenery in them. The "Earthed" series of 1 to 5 are also superb if you prefer more racing action.

For roadies and interested cyclists "the Overcoming" is a good dvd, all about Riis and his CSC team, training, the tour de france and whats involved. If nothing else ,the special chapter on Jens Voigt makes you appreciate what been hyperactive means hehe

+1 for Earthed - best soundtrack too!!

Lovefilm are a bit lame for mountain bike DVD's imo, ive had several on there for months and they are still showing as 'will send when released' and all of them have been around for years!

Klunkers, brilliant what those guys did on those early bikes was inspiring!

If you liked Klunkers look up "Joe kid on a stingray" its the story of how BMX got started.

So what's special about The Collective's films? What sort of things do they cover? Is it the usual freeride stuff and metal soundtrack (I hasten to add, I approve of both!) or is it a bit more sophisticated?

They cover pretty much all types of riding but the key difference is that their films are shot and produced in a much more stylish way than most other MTB films. Take a look at this trailer:

to whet you appetite smile

Nothing really, but then I don't really like the whole 'Freeride' thing. Once you have seen once DVD you have seen them all.

Also far too much "stoked/shredding/gnar/lingo/blah/blah" spiritual crap.

Watched F1rst recently, which was pretty good, save for the most boring narration ever. Personally I find the race films far more interesting.
