jaguar combi boiler
Discussion
moved into a new place, i dont know how to turn it on. its got 0.6 bar, and clock, set, run, then hol. if i press On nothing happens. it had J1 then goes to Fo, i have pressed the buttons randomly on the weekend and it turned on, then now it doesnt and landlord didnt leave the manual for me to use. i havent had a shower since then and need some advice . anyone? i just want to turn the thing on
no i am NOT a student. i live in a flat with my gf in the week in the city and got another one elsewhere.
there is a jaguar combi boiler in the place and my landlord is in spain. it turns on but doesnt ignite and i dont know how to turn it on. When i press the On switch it doesnt turn on. do i have to reset it? i have been pressing the buttons randomly for past month and sometimes it turns on but doesnt, havent been able to turn it on now for 5 days

just using google found this
F0 = low system pressure F1 = no flame detected F2 = central heating thermistor failure F3 = no heat exchanger flow F4 = hot water thermistor failure.
so it seems like low water pressure 0.6 does seem low i thought should of been about 1 bar, try topping up the system and it may fire up there should be a filling loop to top up.
jaguar boilers where made by gloworm.
F0 Loss of system water Refill system Pump runs for one
Check for leaks minute.
Boiler is restarted by
switching of main
switch.
Air lock in boiler Bleed boiler and system
Pressure sensor failure Check the pressure sensor
(Sensing inlet must not be clogged)
F1 No flame detected Check flame sense electrode
and connecting cable
Check ignition electrode
Check ignition unit on gas valve
Check fan operation
Overheating of the boiler Reset overheat thermostats If overheat Thermo-
Check the pump revolution stats are blocked,
boiler does not ignite
when starting
F2 Central heating thermistor Check if flow thermistor is not
failure disconnected or short-circuited
Sensor Ohm resistance
10 kÙ by 25°C, 12,7 kÙ by 20°C,
16 kÙ by 15°C

CH water temperature Check if system is not frozen

F3 Heat exchanger blockage Check main heat exchanger Boiler shuts down and
Check domestic heat pump runs

F4 Domestic hot water Check thermistor/leads Domestic hot water is

16 kÙ by 15°C
Air pressure switch failure:
If the fan and the pump is running but the boiler doesn’t light, check the air pressure
switch.
Blown fuses:
If the main switch is on and display does not light check the FUSE (1) T80mA, see
diagram 22.
If the display lights but the pump, the fan and the ignition module don’t work check the
FUSE (2) T1.6A, see diagram 22.
Warning message:
If the pressure in CH system drops to 0.8 bar the LED on the Bar/MODE button starts to
flash. This give you information that CH pressure is on the low limit and must be pressurised.
Nevertheless the boiler works until the pressure drops to 0.6 bar – then boiler
shuts down and F0 is displayed.
DHW flow is poor
If DHW floor is poor or boiler does not start when hot water tap is open, check following:
Cold water supply pressure is at least 1 bar.
Check if the cold water filter or flow regulator (plastic ‘O’ ring) is not clogged.

Hope you've got it working by now.
Glow Worm as you probably know by now wrote an opaque manual describing screws as taps. The tap to put more water in to increase the pressure is actually a screw (on my jaguar anyway, I wouldn't put it past any company connected with central heating to make each boiler of the same model differently). When I return to that property I'll take a picture and it may be the first picture ever taken of a Jaguar boiler as there isn't one in the manual.

So I move into my newly pur-chased house, a week later the boiler fails with error code F1, I google it, and the top result is on PH \o/
K321, are you still active here? Can you tell me how you got the pilot light on in the end?
I've got the manual for my Jaguar 23 Combi Boiler, but it doesn't have an answer. As a found a small amount of water under the boiler, I was wondering if this relates to water pressure, which seems to be 1.1 (a little low).
Arg. SWMBO is whining more than normal

there is a way you can do it . on mine there is a red tap on left hand side. if you attach a flexi hollow cable to the pipe under the red tap, and attach it to the other pipe under the orange tap on the right hand side, then get a screwdriver or a knife and turn the screw (on the pipe under the red tap) anticlockwise , the water will go through the pipe., you will see the pressure go up and the boiler will power up and stay on, if you turn the screwn clocwise the water will go lower on pressure and the boiler wont work..
another thing, was that if i turned the knobs on all the radiators i could hear a leak, so i set all the knobs off on the radiators until i found the rad with the leak, then if i slowly turned the knob on the rad with the leak, the boiler would go on. ..hope this helps, if not, i will provide a scan image of it next time i am at work- tuesday! woohoo
