Had a call today telling me that they are cancelling all PAYD policies next week and will be calling with a traditional insurance quote next week, but that at that point they will cancel our existing policy which has 3 month to tun, leaving me to get new insurance.

Seems that they can cancel an insurance policy mid term with 7 days notice ( small print somewhere they say) even if all the conditions which applied when you took it out are still current, just because they can't make any money from it. Nice if other businesses could do the same , especially since I had to pay to have the kit installed.

I am thinking that they won't be getting my business next week when they call and they will have to be very careful taking their tracker out (which I think they will try and leave in to avoid the uninstall costs..but I think not) to avoid me seeking redress for damage to my dashboard.

Gutted for you, but it has to be a good thing that this has turned out to be a loser for them. The less argument for more monitoring technology and PAYD schemes, the better.

You do KNOW what I do for a living?

It's complicated, and it involved driving someone else's car with them with me, and them subsequently accusing me of theft and kidnap.

Best left.

Was this the time with the Saudi ambassadors daughter, a catering sized jar of mayonnaise and a bicycle pump? Or was it the juicy one wink

What he said, but MORE !!! . You allowed them to fit a tracker that knew when, where and how fast you were going. ARE YOU mad? This is everything we are fighting against on PH.

EXACTLY.

"Sorry sir, the machine shows you were driving recklessly at the time of the accident. Here's your premium back. Bye. Oh and by the way, we've provided the data showing your speed to the police."

I will never use Norwich Union again after they really dicked about on an endowment policy that I was cancelling. I won't use them if even they're the cheapest, which has led to some interesting conversations with brokers:

Broker "But NU is £50 cheaper than the next best quote"

Me "Fine. I'll contact the next best and get them to price match. If they don't I'm still not giving a penny to NU. Ever."

I wouldn't p1$$ in NU's coprorate mouth if their teeth were on fire. Unless I could p1$$ petrol.

They offered me a PAYD scheme when I renewed in May, The quote was all of £20 less than my normal 10k/year policy with them.

I'd pay a lot more than £20 to stop someone drilling a hole in my dashboard. Plus due to my diminutive years any journeys between 11pm and 7am would be charged at £1 a mile. I reckon I've probably totted up about £2000 worth in the last 3 months as I often commute back to where I live in the week late on a Sunday night.

I couldn't really see any benefits to the scheme.

Bit naughty because they piled the plug just after than. The first I knew was when theycalled asking me to se-set the system because they couldn't track me , thenn the contractor called to say they wouldn't be coming because NU had cancelled all new policies. They let me run an a basic premium for 2 months or so but are cutting me this month with 3 months to run. I was just miffed that we had a deal and they seeemed to be able to walk away, wheras if I had given them 7 days notice I am sure they would have wanted a full month ourt of me and to recover their removal cost ( £50). They even tried to sell me an extension on their in-car breakdown call system a few weeks before they pulled the plug.

When they installed the RAC guy agreed not to drill the dash and not to install the reset/call button so the deinstall should not cause any damage (and if it dowes it will be their risk now I guess). I was paying about £20 a month plus miles which wasn't much as I am a fair weather driver in the Elise ( about £300 a year). More-Than are now quoting me £260 PA with a £600 excess, but most are £360 to £460 PA. I usually take iot of the road in September, so I may do it now and save myself the company car tax on it. Sad.
