About 8:15am today... so I saw you get beaten off the start line and into the first bend (I bet the dirty sucker jumped the lights didn't he). Please, please tell me you got him before the end of the straight!

Yes....that was me, had 'her indoors'on board so missed the start line.
The good news however, he reversed past me after 50 yds and waived a surrender. Enjoyed the moment so much I almost forgot the braking part at the end.
Weird thing was as we reached the roundabout we picked up another Elan and convoyed into Maidenhead.
Where were you officer?

Hi there Big_g,

I was the guy with the dark blue chim when we met up at Toddington on the way to Mania this year. Good to hear that you are well and using the car properly as it was intended.

I was in an unmarked anonymous blue golf going the other way. The Griff is about to be dispatched to Ewelme for some bodywork after a backwards moment a couple of weeks back - but thats another story...

I tell you I was so jealous watching you go by - I have sat at the front row of those same lights many, many times and always seem to get something like a fiesta or a eurobox lining up alongside. Glad to hear the result was the right one

I take it you mean Maidenhead bound, heading towards Braywick roundabout from J8/9? If so have you noticed the dip in the road as you take the sweeping righthander after about 250 yds? Always seems to coincide with changing up from 3rd to 4th at around (ur'humm) 100 (ish') seems to unsettle the car a bit. Mind you I do remember a certain Berkshire based independent hitting 120 in an early 4.5 Cerbera along that stretch Rich...

Rich, Glad you said that...have wondered if I had something odd with the car when I hit that stretch each morning.
Recently had 4 wheel alignment done (mate owns tyre company in Maidenhead) it seems to have settled her down no end.

100ish in 3rd? I haven't driven mine for a week or so but I could swear that 100 in 3rd would be at a dangerously high RPM, would it not?

Also know the dip on the right hand corner heading towards the braywick roundabout and it also makes a boxS go light changing into 4th! - had some interesting late braking moments into the roundabout as well....

That would be the same dip where my old 200SX 'box decided that it wanted to shed a few teeth and locked the whole arse end solid? (About 6 years ago.) I saw what was left of the box and it looked like a grenade had gone off inside it!

Of course it was only the 200SX's arse end that was solid when *THAT* happened!!

Mmmmmmm..... A dreamy stretch of road. My hairdresser (no jokes) saw 3 figures along there on Saturday after I relented to 2 years of begging and let the Ferrari mad italian into the passenger seat of the cerb.

The eventually conceeded that it was quicker than his mates 355.
