I was under the impression that the rear discs were more than up for the task and under used. Meant for a 2-3 ton jag?

I am having the whole braking system reviewed. The fronts are Porsche brakes, put on by the previous owner. They need some work as the brackets foul the chassis on full lock - how it passed the previous MOT, only the previous owner will know. As part of this reviewmthe engineers will be looking at the rears, which are the standard inboard Jaguar brakes, to come up with the best solution. I did lock the back on one occasion, so the balance must not be correct as the car is so light at the back compared to the front. I will let you know the outcome of the review.

Now that is timely. smile

I just collected mine (400SE) from my local garage this morning, having had rear discs, pads and handbrake pads replaced.
I have used the garage before for my daily drivers.

They had the car for a couple of days (needed to get correct Jaguar parts in), and appear to have done a very good job.

The receptionist said it WAS a bit of a pig of a job, but the mechanic enjoyed working on the car anyway.

COST:

Parts..........................£129
Labour....4 hours @ £50/hour...£200

Total cost including VAT.......£386.

To be honest I was tired of going to TVR specialists many miles away and not seeing my car for a month or more. Time is money to me, and I want to drive my car.

It's quite an easy job, its just the access that a problem.

Put if you have a 4 poster is a piece of piss.

only problem is if anything is seized.

I put a post up last month, about some up rated jag rear disc's

I think Steve Heath, is still running the standard disc's also all the Tasmin racers in the Dunlop challenge are are running Std disc's just with a bias adjuster, and are running cooling ducts. as the main problem with the rear is not the size of disc's or calipers its getting the heat out. as there are not in much air flow.
