OMFG, I slept on one of these for the first time last night. What a difference! I woke up this morning feeling like I had had my first proper nights sleep in twenty odd years. I want one for myself and I want it NOW biggrin

Anyone found any good reviews or found a really good one?

My life will not be complete until I have a memory foam mattress of my own!

I am a recent convert. I find the all foam mattress too soft so went for a combination mattress. Lots of springs and then a few inches of Tempur on top. Now, the Tempur pillows... wow. They are great. They smell a bit chemically initially but that goes after a couple of months.

We bought some 'memory pillows'. They were like sleeping on bricks!

Back to the chicken feathers for us.

You get what you pay for. No matter how much abuse you give those mattresses, they always go back to their original shape. Very supportive too cool

Normal pillows though, don't like to memory ones frown

Yeah I've got one too. Also the pillow. I've become so converted that I take my memory foam pillow with me wherever possible....

They are not all the same, try and find out which make you slept on, and buy that same one. Even if it's a cheaper one, if you slept ok, buy it.

PS I'm in the trade.

Well the one I slept on last night only cost about £300! and yet I had the best nights sleep I've had since I got a bit mashed in a bike crash twenty odd years ago. The only part of me that doesn't feel refreshed is my neck, so it's got to be pillows as well.

The dilemma now is can a Tempur be £1300 better?

(ps I'm in the business too ! wink )

I get lots of comments about "Visco Elastic" (Memory Foam) mattresses & particularly that the T****r brand is a bit too hard for some.

Thing is there are so many manufacturers in the market now you don't need to pay that sort of price, which tends to cover the much longer guarantee & their "60 day" trial or return policy.

Check out past editions of which "a certain consumer" magazine -about January 2006 I think.

Personally I find that a lot of people prefer "hybrid" -combination spring/Visco mattresses for "Feel" and many find Memory foam tends to make you warmer in bed-even "sweating" in some cases. Coolmax or "Outlast" fabric mattress covers help.
As said before try several for feel.

Recently got one of these, what a shock after sleeping on a blow up matress for a couple of weeks, it made my back really ache after the first night, feels great now though, very very nice though.

Had one of the cheaper combination ones for a few years now. Absolutely fantastic.

I can't justify a whole mattress, but I bought a Tempur pillow a few months ago and its made such a huge difference to my nights sleep.

I was in a bad road accident a few years back and since then my neck has given me hell - I found it hard to get out of bed in the morning and had terrible ear ache type pain that went all the way down my neck and into my arm. Since getting the pillow I'm still in a small amount of pain, but nowhere near as bad as it was. I even feel refreshed when I wake up biggrin

As soon as I can, I'll be getting the mattress too - pure magic I say!

It might interest a few of you on here that you can get Tempur (and probabaly rival) matresses VAT free if you have a medical need. A couple of you mention accidents, others with circulation problems, sleep disorders and doubtless many other reasons should qualify.

The shop has forms you fill in and they sell to you VAT free (i got the Ottoman base headboard et al - all VAT free so this is a considerable saving. I was a little worried about the VATman coming back to bite but when I looked into it apparently it is the shop's problem not yours if something is amiss (I'm no tax or legal expert but thats what my local tax office told me.

- VAT on £1300 is approx £1100. Be aware there are tremendous mark ups on these beds - I should quote internet prices to your local retailer - bargain hard and then get the VAT off!

So how do you prove you need it for medical purposes? If I can get one cheaper, I'll go and get it tomorrow (or rather my dad will..paperbag) I'd give anything to be pain free.
