I know this may sound a stupid question but where is the best place to buy some normal copper wire and some crocodile clips? I've recently done a service on my e34 525 and it's only fair that I reset the service indicators but don';t fancy buying a fancy reset gizmo! I know I'm being stupid and it will be obvious but i need pointing in the right direction!
For a walk in shop try Maplins, Halfrauds also do rolls of wire have a look in their car audio section. Most motor factors will do wire or come to that cut a bit off an extension lead 
It's not high current so pretty much anything will do and I don't think you even need croc clips. Just bare the ends of the wire and you can stick it down the relevant socket holes (make sure it's the right ones!).
I believe you just have to time it right depending on what you want to reset.
