starter solenoid relay
Discussion
Had same problem on my Griff500 a couple of years ago. Removed starter, stripped pre-engagement solenoid and lapped a thou off the coil and armature. Starter replaced with a heat reflective blanket. Net result has been NO problems. I reckon the clearance between the armature and coil of the solenoid is a bit tight and, as the starter heats up, it causes the solenoid to bind up.

So it's straight from the ignition switch then.I must admit,i had always thought they'd used a relay but still the wiring wasn't adequate. Cheers David
