As title, Used to have a Coupe, then went down X5 route, but now want an E46 convertible; question is will child seats fit in back, due to width of bucket seats. Does anyone have a convertible with seats & how are you coping??
Thanks.

Yep, they definately fit. My g/f's brother has one and his 2.5 y/o girl's car seat fits in the back just fine.

I thought about getting the BMW one when I had an X5, but it's not as good as the Maxi cosi Tobi. (I've had this for almost 2 years & they're great).

Although I'm still concerned about the space in the back, as I used to have an M3 coupe & can remember just squeezing my briefcase behind me in the footwell & I'll need to fit two car seats in the back (for occasional use!!)

Nice idea!! I remember when I bought my M3 Coupe(ordered October 2002) delivered May 03 the dealer wouldn't even give me mats!!
I'm not buying a new one this time (might spark off debate, but..) I don't agree with fuel economy, plus I really liked my 'old' M3 & only got rid for more space.

Added to which sales are probably thinner on the ground now than they were in 02 smile It'll all work in your favour.

Just come across this thread on a search...

We have a 2nd baby on the way so unfortunately I think my Elise may have to go and I'm just mulling over what I could replace it with (must be fun, similar price range, 4 seats and open-top).

It sounds from the above like a forward-facing seat will fit but what about a rear-facing baby seat (ie can you squeeze one through the gap when the front seat is tilted forward?). If not, I understand that you can get BMW to de-activate the front airbag - can anyone clarify if this is the case (and the estimated cost)?

Thanks

I have a m3 coupe and have just bought a maxi cosi front facing from mothercare and it fits in both the front seat and back, although mothercares staff couldn't fit it right in the back but i did by pulling the seatbelt tight so there is no movement.

Cheers n_boost - have you had the passenger airbag disconnected?

Mothercare staff are trained by us & i would make sure that YOU have installed it 100% correct.
Also as mentioned, do NOT install on front passenger seat if you cannot turn off your airbag.

If it is possible, the switch will be visible somewhere near the airbag itself. The other alternative is to get a main dealer to switch it of, but you will probably have to sign some sort of agreement to cover themselves.
