This car has been largely ignored by the European media and hence public, due to the fact that it would mean that our perceptions of American cars (straight line speed, don't handle and poorly built) would have to change, we'd have to admit to ourselves that they aren't idiots and some can build exceptional cars...it scares us.
I followed the SSC through the latter part of its developments and into its record runs. As a 'simple' car it is devestatingly effective. It seems to handle too and from what Jay says in his article is good enough to withstand punishment all day long without breaking - more than can be said for some European supercars.
The only complaint I would have about the SSC is that it doesn't look good, it needs more design flair. It has that 'kit car built in someones shed' look which does it no favours, I'm sure this is a case of form following function, but a supercar needs to feel special too and I think this is where this car lets itself down. It may be mechanically simple, handle well, go like stink, but it doesn't seem to have soul. They Veyron doesn't either, my supercar of choice would be the Pagani Zonda or possibly something by Koenigsegg because you know just by looking at them they'd be special and thats a hugely important part of the supercar mix.
Thats why I won't be buying an Aero, that and a total lack of funds

well i like it, i would rather have this in some ways to the Veyron, it's the underdog, basic, light, big V8 power, same principles of a TVR.
As the chap above said though, i would still prob take a Zonda or something with more style and charisma..
From the reviews I read this car is truly terrifing, nothing like a veyron (more koeningsegg). As the chap above said though, i would still prob take a Zonda or something with more style and charisma..
In fact, the only thing they compare into is the speed.
Yes, the SSC is faster (by a very small margin) but at what cost? If you want something light and incredibly fast why not get an Ultima GTR?
I think you should compare it to that.
Of course, the Zonda would be my car of choice...
