Evening folks.

Been out for a blat earlier, and all of a sudden my zetec went on to three cylinders.

It runs lovely on tickover/and up to 3K then just boggs down onto three.

Changed plugs and leads to no avail.

Could it be coil pack?

Cheers for any help.

Lee.

Is it individual coil sticks ? If so, swap them around and see if the duff cylinder moves.

If yours is like this it is a single coil pack and is a wasted spark system. This pic is of the the Zetec (black top) in our Tiger. It uses an Alpha ignition system as well.

We had a similar problem with our Fiesta which uses the same coil pack and new one fixed it. Cant promise this the answer but I thnk the coil packs are'nt too expensive.

They sound like very respectable figures, we are hoping for something similar.

The carbs are GSXR 1100 on a Bogg brothers manifold. We (I) managed to blow the head gasket on day 1 when we (its shared with my son David)bought it a few weeks ago, but it is all fixed now and the engine does feel strong. BHP in the 160-170 region would be very pleasingbiggrinbiggrin. There is a bit more about our car on this section "engine rebuild" a few weeks ago.

Have you sorted yours yet ?. I think you said you had webbers and suspected carbs now. Its pretty straight forward to get the main jets out and check for blockages. Should take less than 10 minuts for the pair. Worth a go I think. Check the fuel filters in the carb inlet union they could be a problem.

Keep us posted and Enjoy yours thumbup

Sorted!!!

Turned out my retaining bolt had fell out, causing the venturis to spin round blocking

the jets on number three.

Bolt back in,locktab in and lockwired up!

Cheers for all the help!

(All the best with the zetec ken) beer

Glad to see you got it fixed. Its always nice when you find a good solid reason for a problem and fix it easily.
