Was looking at a good deal on a 355 but unfortunately not everything appears to be quite right so I'm probably going to bail.

I've seen this 348 on pistonheads for a while, and its just been relisted. Has anyone here been to see it, or know of it? Engine bay looks in amazing condition! cool

Don't know the car, but you could get a decent Spider for that money.

The thing with ultra low mileage cars is that you pay a hefty premium which you immediately lose if you should, perish the thought, drive it!

The 355 is advertised with a specialist who has a very good rep and they said they will vouch for the car, however I saw the actual seller selling it on ebay for a bit cheaper. Got the actual sellers company name from his ebay ad, and ran a trace via companies house which turned up a few oddities on the business. Also the seller returned one call but after leaving a message Saturday he hasn't replied, he is also leaving the country soon. So all in all it's given me cold feet; i only want to buy if 100% certain.

True, I've seen a nice red LHD version which has had the handling fettled with a bit. We'll see what happens - I'm swinging between the 348, 911, and an Exige S - still undecided!

The specialist advertising it for more is pretty normal as he is probably taking a hefty commission for sale.

It strange that the seller is not returning calls.

The fact he is leaving the country would just make me check it out carefully. If the trader will guarantee (get it in writing) title as a term of the contract then you can always go after them should the worse happen.

However there are a few for sale so you have got options.

I cant speak for the exige as I have never driven nor owned one; it is not really in the same image category! However I have owned and driven several 911's and IMO there is no competition; I would buy the ferrari everyday of the week! The ferrari is far more special. The only time I would consider buying the 911 is if I wanted to use it everyday; which I did very confortably with mine!

Good luck!

Thanks Chris, I may chase the garage if the 355 is still for sale in a week or two (I'm in no rush) to see if they will give a written guarantee. They are a ferrai specialist on the outskirts of London so hopefully they will consider it as it's a long way to travel for me!

If not, a good 348 would be tempting. There are two very honest looking LHD TBs on PH at the moment so we'll see. I dont want to tyre kick and test drive until I'm ready, so we'll see - it's hopefully a good time of year to buy as spring/summer season is over and there seem to be a few good deals out there now.

And the values of the 348s are holding very strongly at the moment ... Also, as with most Ferraris, LHD is a far better driving position due to the pedal offset. LHD was a "Must" when I bought my second one in January and I haven't regretted it yet smile
