I found yesterday whilst applying Triplewax car polish to my car (looks great by the way) that a small area of the paintowork has peeled/chipped off. This has rusted and the standard manufacturer gurantee is 12 years. The chip is through no fault of my own. Will this be covered or will the dealer try and find a way out? The car is a MK5 2004 Golf. Colour is black (non-metallic) if that helps. Thanks

Chips aren't covered by corrosion warranties usually.

Only covered if the corrosion is from the inside out.

If the problem is caused by rust "bubbling" under the paintwork you can claim against the 12 year warranty, you'll have to take it to your local dealers to be assessed though

If the paint has been removed for any reason (weather its your fault or not, even if it just flaked off actually) and this allowed the metal beneath to corrode, then its not covered.

As stated above to be part of the corrosion warranty must be corroded from the inside out. Which incidentally never happens hence the 12year warranty.

Take to Audi centre, they may refer you to one with a body shop attached if they believe a warranty claim is due, but I'm sorry to day, it doesn't sound like it to me.
