Hi,

Firstly, if this type of thread is not allowed then I do apologise, lock it if necessary smile

Since thursday evening I've been experiencing pain in my abdominal area, below my ribcage. It's a dull ish ache with occasional bouts of much sharper pain. Not really sick, but not feeling 100% - a tiny bit feverish but I've not lost my appetite. No other symptoms that I know of.

Can anyone speculate as to what it might be?

Well you've done the right thing by asking on an internet motoring forum. Unfortunately by the time you get the correct diagnosis you will be experiencing the final effects of Death. Can be quite nasty.

I.E. What Puggit said.

I can. It might be a dreadful, inoperable cancer, the first pressings of a horrid, invasive and highly aggressive tumour which is attaching itself inexorably to all your organs and will kill you within months or even weeks, as you howl in morphine palliated agony towards your inevitable end.

Or it might be something else. Just speculating.

Do you not have a GP?

Might need a bit more info such as age, gender (though I assume you're a feller), what makes the pain better/worse, have you gone yellow, do you have normal poo, where does the pain radiate to (such as does it go through to your back?), do you smoke/drink, when you say the pain is below your rib cage can you be more specific?

If this were a short exam question my money would be on cholecystitis, but seeing as this is the real world it could just as easily be nothing at all (and I'm not accusing you of being a hypochondriac, it's just that very often the cause of pain such as this is never actually found).

Worst case scenario: RH side could be appendicitis, LH side could be diverticulitis.
Wouldn't hurt to look up the symptoms to see if you can rule these two out.

Doesn't the pain of an appendicitis start on the left? then move?

21, Male. Hurts more when sitting down, less when standing up. lying - somewhere in between. Normal poo, not yellow, doesn't really radiate anywhere. Don't smoke or drink. It's around the naval area.
