Recently my 200SX has started backfiring when letting off the throttle.

Is it likely to be a leak on the inlet manifold or a leak on the exhaust, or has anyone else encountered this problem themselves and have any other ideas what it might be?

Many thanks in advance!

Has it had any modifications, like a different dump valve?

It may be there is a leak around the dump valve stopping the air getting recirculated back into the system. This would mean the mixture would be rich when the dump valve "dumps".

Does it hiss or warble when you change gear?

It'll be a boost leak at the intercooler meaning that the engine overfuels.
