Tuscan alternators

Somewhere in the depths of my memory banks I seem to remember early RV8 Tuscans had their alternator driven off the propshaft. Is that right or am I talking botox as usual? On the off chance that I am right, has anyone got any photos or other info?

Some cars used to have their handbrakes on the prop shaft.. don't know about the Tuscans though..

Some of the Tuscans had a rear mounted alternator driven off the prop/diff. Never actually seen one myself. I think the ex Mike Jordan car had one but Howard may have replaced it with a conventional one during his ownership if I recall correctly.

Cheers Andy, was thinking out of the box to solve a packaging issue, but I think I can get away with fitting a more compact Japanese alternator now.

Had the same issues myself with the LS engine, had to move the alt from bottom right as you look at the front, to top left in front of the cylinder head. And use an extra small alt.

If you give me some dimensions and power output you need I might be able to help with sourcing the alternator... I have a contact that builds small models plus the refurb most standard models as well... I can also find small high output starters or v6 v8 ajp8 and s6 :-)

I think Denso do a 4" Alternator. 40,50 and 60 amps.
I could do with one as small as possible also. so if anyone know of a smaller one, let me know.
don't think any of us will need than 60 Amps for a 20 minute race.
